the 1970s 1975 C. Bishop represented England schoolboys in an international S. Ogden was 2nd in the youths national cross country championships at Leicester. Phil Hicken won the colts inter-counties cross country championship at Shrewsbury Warrington AC girls won the North of England road relays at Rawtenstall - P. Parkinson, P. Matheson and K. Locke. P. Matheson ran the fastest lap on the day. P. Matheson was 2nd in the northern counties cross country championships at Garforth. Warrington girls won the team prize - P. Matheson, K. Locke, Anne-Marie Briggs and P. Parkinson. 1976 Phil Hicken won the junior boys 1500m English schools title at Barnet. Phil Hicken and Andy Green represented England schoolboys and P. Mathieson represented England schoolgirls at cross country. The boys team were 2nd in the northern cross country championships at Arrowe park. 1977 Phil Hicken represented England schoolboys at cross country, and also held the uk age 15 yrs record at 3000m - 8mins 32secs. Phil also won the boys inter-counties cross country at Shrewsbury. Graham Green won the colts inter-counties title at Shrewsbury. 1978 Phil Hicken once again represented England schoolboys at cross country. The youths cross country team won the North of England title at Sherdley Park and were 2nd in the National cross country championships at Leicester.. Mather represented England schoolboys at cross country. J. Booth represented England scoolgirls at 400m hurdles. N. Rimmer was a member of the England junior team in the world cross country. Phil Hicken was 3rd in the inter-counties cross country at Derby. The junior boys team were 3rd in the National cross country championships at Parliament hill. |
