2010 National Champions - (L to R): Dan Cliffe; Steve Broadhurst; Harry Ellis; Matt Jackson: The outstanding result from today's National Championship was the under 20 men winning the National team title by more than 40 points. Matt Jackson had his best race of the season to date in 6th place and he was supported by Harry Ellis in 10th, Dan Cliffe in 14th and Steve Broadhurst in 33rd position. This is the first win in this age-group for Warrington Athletic Club. Having coached the group since they were 13 years old, Phil Hicken said that today was a very proud moment for him. Although the team have won several national relay titles through the age-groups, today the win was special. Photo and report to follow.

Alex, who placed 5th with 3615 points in the UK under 17 age-group championship, produced two solid days of competition and in the process set 5 new personal bests over 60m, shot, long jump, high jump and finally at 1000m where Alex took more than 5 seconds from his previous best whilst front running his way to victory in this, the last event of the competition.
Day 2: A great start with a strong performance over the 60m hurdles in 9.4 secs. Alex followed the hurdles event with a clearance of 3.01m in the pole vault, and his championship was brought to a close with the only sub 3 minute timing in the competition as Alex recorded a time of 2 mins 57.74 secs1000m. Alex will now move onto the invitational British Schools Biathlon Championships which will take place on Sunday 21st March at Crystal Palace, the true home of British Athletics and the scene of numerous athletic world records and memorable races during the 1970's and 1980'. Results.
Closing Down Sale: Sale Harriers hosted their final indoor meeting of the season at Sportcity Manchester. Ashley Kirsopp was a winner in the U15 boys hurdles race but only after Nev Jones had to advise the officials that they were about to run the race with the hurdles at the wrong height and in the wrong places! The only other club athletes to compete were under 20 lady Beth Hicken who stepped up into the senior ladies 300m where she was just outside her personal best with a time of 42.9 secs. Vicky Hamilton also competed over 300m in the under 17 girls race where she ran a good time of 45.19 secs. 27th February: National Cross Country
Championships - Under 20 men 'Simply The Best':
L-R: Cliffe; Broadhurst; Hicken; Ellis; Jackson: Ashley takes bronze, Abi & James in finals at the National Indoor Championships - Birmingham: A small group of athletes competed at this meeting and in the process gained a great deal of experience that will help them during the 2010 summer track season. Top result from Saturday's programme was Abi Fitzpatrick's new personal best of 57.06 secs in the heats of the under 20 ladies 400m. Abi went on to record 57.64 secs as she claimed 6th place in the final at her first national championships. North of England under 20 silver medallist James Gladman also showed he is on course for a decent summer campaign as he also made the final of the under 20 mens 60m hurdles event where he finished in 7th place with a time of 8.3 secs. Two of the younger members of the club also made their debut at this national championship as Ashley Kirsopp finished in 4th place in his heat of the under 15 boys 60m hurdles before taking a brilliant bronze medal from the long jump event at the age of 12 years - fantastic performance.
