As you may know, the 97 mile Cheshire ring canal circuit was attempted by several members of WAC. The circuit was run by 6 teams, running in pairs. The first leg was started by Christine Jackson and Gina Nicholson from the London Road Bridge at 6.40Am. Handing on the baton through Lymm, Altrincham, and through Manchester to Ashton along the Bridgewater canal. At Ashton we turned south through souring temperatures of up to 28 degrees with little or no breeze. We ran through Marple, Macclesfield, Congleton and eventually reached the southernmost point of Kidsgrove (just north of Stoke). From there we turned north through Sandbach, Middlewich and Northwich before the turning east toward home. The last leg was run by Kieron Layfield and Richard Gwilliams and they finished at 19.50 giving us a total time of 13 hours and 10 mins. The rest of the team were Phil Talbot, Paul layfield, Stuart Gwilliams, Richard Bradley, John Hilton, Paul Hickey, Dave Jackson and Ian Nicholson.
