Warrington Athletic Club's Danny Cliffe produced the
fastest time in the UK by an athlete under 20 when
he finished in 40th place in a field of around
31,000 runners in the BUPA Great Manchester 10
kilometres road race on Sunday 18th May. Danny's run
in a time of 30 minutes 53 seconds put him in 1st
place in the non invited or elite runners and he was
only 2 minutes 4 seconds behind the first British
runner and 1 minute 30 seconds behind Dan Robinson
who has been the highest placed British runner in
the last Commonwealth Games, European Championships
and Olympic Games Marathons.
Meanwhile Mervyn ward finished in 44th place and
2nd over 50 in the Chester Half Marathon running a
time of 1 hour 24 minutes 29 seconds.
On Saturday 17th May The
BUPA Junior Great Manchester
races took place with two
Warrington Athletic
Club athletes taking part.In
the 12-14 Boys race Tom
Jervis finished in 2nd place
in a time of 7 minutes 23
seconds while in the 9-11
girls Carys Mc Auley
finished in 5th place in 9
minutes 39 seconds.
