The
Mason Trophy Inter County match took place at the Alexander Stadium
Birmingham on Saturday 17th June with 16 Warrington Athletic Club athletes
taking part and helping Cheshire to win the trophy. In the Intermediate
Girls events Heather Timmins was the only individual winner taking the
1500 metres in a personal best time. Lucy Gemmell (800m), Sarah
Cartwright(3000m), Lauren Clark (Hammer) and Megan Tyler (High Jump) all
finished in 2nd position. In the B Events Vicky Nicholson (Triple Jump)
Emma Jane Jones (300m) and Hayley Darbyshire (100m) finished in 3rd, 4th
and 6th places respectively. In the Junior Girls 200 metres Beth Hicken
who recently changed her first claim club to City of Stoke but retains 2nd
claim membership at Warrington finished in 2nd place. In the Intermediate
Boys events Mat Jackson and Lawrence Walker took 1st place in the A 3000
metres and 1500 metres Steeplechase respectively while Peter Morgan
(100m) and Danny Cliffe(3000m) won the B races. In the B 100m Luke
Miller-Briggs represented Merseyside and finished in 3rd place. A below
par Stephen Broadhurst finished 3rd in the B 1500 metres while Scott
McEwan took 2nd in the B Triple Jump.

In the Intermediate Girls Lucy Gemmell has been selected for the 800 metres Megan Tyler for the High Jump while Jade Llewellyn and Beth Hicken have been selected for the Junior Girls 1500 and 200 metres respectively. In the Boys Peter Morgan and Luke Miller-Briggs have been chosen for the intermediate 100 metres while Mat Jackson, Stephen Broadhurst and Lawrence Walker have been selected for the 3000metres 1500 metres and 1500 metres Steeplechase. Also in the team is Michael Jukes who is not a member of a club. Michael has been selected for the Junior Boys triple Jump. |
