The Senior/U20 version of the North of England Championships took place over the weekend of 14/15th June at Sportcity Manchester, with Warrington Athletic Club adding to their tally of titles collected at the under15/17 championships with victories from Stephen Broadhurst and Danny Cliffe, while Lawrence Walker collected a Silver Medal.
In the U20 events, Stephen Broadhurst collected the Gold Medal in the 1500 metres, storming clear in the final 200 metres, while Danny Cliffe continued on his winning streak to take the Gold Medal in the 5000 metres, winning by almost a minute. In the 2000 metres Steeplechase, Lawrence Walker took the Silver Medal with Matt Jackson finishing in 5th place. Peter Morgan won his heat in the 400 metres and finished in 4th place in the final. Luke Miller-Briggs qualified for the final of the 200 metres, finishing 3rd in his heat and was then 5th in the final. Hayley Darbyshire was the only U20 woman to compete, finishing 5th in her heats of the 100 and 200 metres but failing to make either final.
In the senior events Matt Kindon smashed his personal best time in the heat of the 400 metres hurdles, finishing 4th in his heat in the same time as 3rd place. Matt qualified for the final as a fastest loser and finished in 5th place. In the 100 metres Bobby Clayton finished in 6th place in his heat but was unable to progress to the final.
