Walton Hall Gardens played host to the Regional round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup on Saturday 11th November with 28 schools taking part in the 4 races. In the Junior Girls event Harriet Jones (Bromsgrove Prep) ran out the winner in a time of 9 minutes 23 seconds from Naomi Richardson (King Henry 8th) 9 minutes 24 seconds with Emily Fox (Lymm) taking third in 9 minutes 28 seconds. The team event was won by Bromsgrove Prep with 45 points with Lymm High second with 58 points and Shrewsbury third on 93 points. The Intermediate Girls race was won by Jade Llewellyn (Bridgewater) in a time o 10 minutes 27 seconds from E Furber (Sandbach) 10 minutes 42 seconds and J Simmonds (Cheltenham) 10 minutes 54 seconds in third place. The team event went to Helsby with 51 points from Cheltenham 52 points and Stratford 62 points. In the Junior Boys race Liam Renton (Helsby) won in a time of 9 minutes 50 seconds from Luke Johnston (Bridgewater) 10 minutes 03 seconds with B Overmire (Adam's Grammar) taking third place in 10 minutes 10 seconds. The team event was won by Marling on 47 points from Adam's Grammar on 57 points and Helsby 58 points. The Intermediate Boys race was won by A Clewes (Sandbach) in 14 minutes 15 seconds with H Ellis (Helsby) second in 14 minutes 48 seconds and M Pratt (Christleton) 14 minutes 57 seconds in third place. The Team Race was won by Helsby on 29 points from Adam's Grammar 34 points and Bridgewater on 57 points. Teams finishing in the first three places progress to the next round of the competition. |
